His work has a sense of humour and personal approach like „dingdrin“: Dingdrin means «thing inside» in German - take a look through the lens and it all makes sense… “Dingdrin” are rings and pendants with integrated microfilms. If you look through the lenses on each side of the ring, you will see pictures, words, drawings, whatever you want to carry around with you as a secret inside your ring.

David Huycke

Atelier Huycke GCV

The Belgian artist David Huycke is fascinated by objects that hover between sculpture and design, without being either one of them. In consequence of his love-hate relationship with ornamentation, his interest in processes and material qualities and his fascination for the ‘impossible’ he questioned in his last project The Metamorphic Ornament: Re-Thinking Granulation the technique of granulation from an artistic perspective, in search of its contemporary relevance. Granulation – traditionally a surface application - is used in this project as a constructive method and as a conceptual framework for sculptural silverwork.

David Huycke was born in 1967 in Sint-Niklaas (Belgium). He studied jewellery-design and silversmithing at the Karel-de-Grote Hogeschool in Antwerp (Belgium) and graduated in 1989. Since 1993 he is an independent metal artist. Currently he is docent at the MAD-faculty and researcher at MAD-research, Hasselt/Genk, Belgium. In 2010 he acquired his PhD in Arts with his project The Metamorphic Ornament: Re-Thinking Granulation.

Jochen Pohl

Jochen Pohl GmbH

“In the beginning is the stone” – this is the motto of Jochen Pohl. For his enchanting jewels from Idar-Oberstein, every gemstone is carefully selected, is cut perfectly and transformed into a timelessly elegant piece of jewellery. Jochen Pohl was born in Idar-Oberstein in 1969; as the son of a goldsmith, his future career was virtually predestined. He became an apprentice at his father’s goldsmiths and learned the ABC of the craft.

He then went out into the big wide world, spending his journeyman years at a court jewellers of the Spanish royal family. After attending the Fachschule für Edelstein und Schmuckgestaltung at Idar-Oberstein – which he left as a master craftsman – he finally took the plunge and set up for himself. Inspired by nature, Jochen Pohl’s imagination knows no bounds. His rings are small sculptures of surprisingly modern design, atmospheric creations composed of gems and the most precious metal.

Paul Henderson

Wave contemporary jewellery

Paul Henderson started Wave Jewellery – an exquisite jewellery boutique - together with his wife Jo Henderson in 2001. The concept was born out of ideas that are just as relevant today — that jewellery should be designed with flair and be as unique as the person wearing it and yet stand the test of time both in quality and looks, that people don't all want the same thing and that jewellery is a very special and important choice whether you are asking somebody to marry you or choosing the piece for yourself to complete that special outfit. Meanwhile Paul and Jo Henderson run 6 jewellery boutiques within the UK.

Wave jewellery gain top honours from Retail jewellery magazine 2011

Paul & Jo Henderson Wave

Feature from Retail jewellerey magazine : Buying power list Top 30

Wave Contemporary Jewellery

What makes Jo and Paul Henderson so special is that they are the perfect combination. She is 1st class honours  arts graduate, so has a great understanding of culture, form and the aesthetic side of things, while he is excellent with numbers and has previous experience in  accountancy , so has a firm grasp of good business practice. As a result they make an excellent buying team.

The Hendersons make a great team

They travel outside the UK to trade shows such as Brasil, Basel in Switzerland, Vicenza in Italy, Inhorgenta in Germany and even further afield. They have a methodological approach when they attend these shows, and walk down every aisle, looking in every window to see what’s out there and what the latest trends and best designs are - even if it is not something they would necessarily stock in any of their six stores.

They have expanded Wave Contemporary Jewellery and stepped out of their comfort zone by moving into the premium watch market, and now visit trade show SIHH in Geneva to keep on top of the latest watch trends. A customer shopping at one of the jeweller’s branches can always be assured they are going to walk away with something beautiful.
